Yogi Bear Wiki

Winsome "Winnie" Witch is a witch and a recurring character of the Yogi Bear franchise.

Background[]

She is a friendly, magical, yet somewhat inept, witch. Winnie's catchphrase when casting a spell was "Ippity - Pippity - Pow!" When the magic spell conjures, the Jet Screamer entrance cue from The Jetsons plays. She often flies around on a broom that happens to be magically alive.

In Fender Bender 500, she participated in the races in her Sonic Broom, joined by her pet cat, Lucky and skeleton, Axel, which he would later appear as a guest cameo in the episode, "Face of the Town!" in Jellystone!.

In the Max original series, Jellystone!, she is British and works at the cafeteria of Jellystone Hospital.

Physical Appearance[]

Current[]

In her current appearance, Winnie is a short and portly woman with fair skin, slender arms and legs, black eyes, a little bulbous nose, black eyebrows, and auburn red hair. She wears a black witch's hat with a light blue bow, a light blue long-sleeved shirt with two X-shaped patches on the center, a dark blue skirt with short, jagged hemlines on the bottom, light blue pants, and black shoes.

Original[]

In her early and original appearance in the short, "Bewitched Bear" from "The Huckleberry Hound Show", Winnie was originally a tall and slender woman with green skin, a long nose, thick black eyebrows, black eyes, a long crooked nose, and wore black witch's clothing that included a black witch's hat, a black long-sleeved jacket, and black witch's shoes.

Notes/Trivia[]

  • Winnie was the star of her own segmented episodes, titled Winsome Witch, during The Secret Squirrel Show.
    • Before that, she made her first and original appearance in The Huckleberry Hound Show acting as a prototype who looked like a stereotypical witch hag, possibly making her a different character.
  • According to the deleted model cel on the episode "Yogi Bear on the Air", Winnie along with Maw Rugg and Penelope Pitstop were originally to appear in exercise outfits, but they didn't make it.
  • Despite the decades she's been called Winnie, the voice credits of Jellystone! listed her as Winsome, even though in that series she's also still called Winnie. This is presumably due to the fact that her series was called Winsome Witch, although she was rarely called that.
