Norville "Shaggy" Rogers is a cowardly slacker, the long-time best friend of his equally cowardly Great Dane, Scooby-Doo, a member of the Scooby-Doobies in Laff-a-Lympics, and a guest character of the Yogi Bear franchise.

Shaggy is something of a hippy due to his generally laid back personality, his hair, clothes, and his inappropriate use of slipping in the word "Like" in his speech.
He and Scooby-Doo have nearly insatiable appetites, as well as tendencies towards goofing off and cowardice. Due to these similarities, Shaggy typically treats Scooby as a normal person rather than his pet. Shaggy uses his catch phrase "Zoinks!" whenever he's surprised or scared, which is frequently.

Shaggy is a lanky, teenage man with fair skin, a long neck, black eyebrows, black eyes, dusty blonde hair, and whiskers that look like a goatee. He wears a green V-neck shirt, brown bell-bottom pants, and black platforms.
In the series, Laff-a-Lympics, as part of the Scooby-Doobies, he wears a blue vest top with a white "S" on it.
