Muttley is Dick Dastardly's pet and sidekick and the recurring antagonist of the Yogi Bear franchise.
Background[]
He is Dick Dastardly's pet and bumbling sidekick who in Yogi's Treasure Hunt follow Yogi's Treasure Hunters across the world in the S.S. Dirty Tricks, trying to get their sought after rare and invaluable treasures before they do. And as a pup in Yo Yogi!, he liked to do misdeeds towards Yogi and his friends whenever possible.
Muttley rarely speaks with occasionally intelligible words, but his main examples of speech are his trademark snicker, a wheezing smoker's laugh (usually made at Dick's expense, who sometimes retaliates by thumping him on the head), and a mushy, sotto voce grumble against an unsympathetic or harsh Dick (usually along the lines of "Sassafrassarassum Rick Rastardly!").

He is known as mischievous, understanding, thoughtful, treacherous, lovable, empathetic, astute, menacing, upbeat, truthful, testy, loyal, emotional, and sneaky. He can't get by one moment without snickering.
Physical Appearance[]
Muttley is an short anthropomorphic mixed breed dog (as he is identified as a bloodhound, pointer, Airedale and a hunting dog), with brown fur, a black nose, black eyes, black eyebrows, black furry ears, a few teeth showing when his mouth is closed, and wears an orange helmet and an orange scarf.
When he was a pup in Yo Yogi!, he wore an orange dog collar with spikes.

- Muttley originally comes from Hanna-Barbera's Wacky Races and Dastardly & Muttley in Their Flying Machines.
- His character design and trademark snicker (voiced by Don Messick) was inspired by Mugger, the Chizzling Brothers' hench-dog from the 1964 animated theatrical film, Hey There, It's Yogi Bear!.
- Muttley was replaced by Mumbly in Laff-a-Lympics and Yogi Bear and the Magical Flight of the Spruce Goose, where this was Dread Baron's pet and sidekick, who resembled Dick Dastardly, in a comic book, it was revealed that Dick and Dread are brothers.
