Hokey Wolf is a smooth-talking anthropomorphic wolf and a recurring character in the Yogi Bear franchise.

Background[]

He is a greedy, lazy, slacking con-artist wolf, trying to avoid work by getting money and needs out of people the hard way, which he would constantly go around conning people. Usually, he sets up his "victims" by taking advantage of them, mostly by complementing them on their talent, skill or performance, so they would fall in Hokey's trap, then he pulls the full cover over them by stealing their "needs" for himself. This would usually backfire in some way in the end with the person he conned either shooting after him with a gun or violently threatening to beat him up.

Physical Appearance[]

Hokey is a tall and slender anthropomorphic timber wolf with tan-brown fur and a tan-peach snout muzzle, black eyebrows, black eyes, a black nose, whiskers, and he typically wears his trademark teal bow tie with a white collar and a violet pork pie hat.

In the series, Laff-a-Lympics, as part of the Yogi Yahooeys, he wears a red-orange T-shirt with a white "Y" on it.

As the mayor of Jellystone Township in Yo Yogi!, his violet pork pie hat was now a top hat, and he wore a dark grey long-sleeved jacket.

Notes/Trivia[]

  • Hokey was voiced by Daws Butler, except in Yo Yogi!, where he was voiced by Matt Hurwitz, as Butler had died by the time of production.
  • Hokey's personality is very similar to that of Top Cat (another Hanna-Barbera character), as both often act as the anti-hero in some episodes, both create schemes to get what they want, and both talk very similar to one another.
  • After Yogi got his own show in 1961. Hokey took Yogi's place on The Huckleberry Hound Show during the 1961-62 season.
  • In the Max original series, Jellystone!, he appeared as a background character and citizen, though so far, he had no dialogue in any of his appearances.
